A couple of months ago, I was taking pictures at one of my old high school’s basketball games when I started talking with an old friend. This usually isn’t too uncommon as the high school I went to was also my middle school… and my elementary school… so a LOT of the people I know there, I’ve known for a LONG time!! I had started talking to Jendi, a young teacher who has known me since I was 12 years old, after the game… just gushing about life and after college plans and how things were going for the both of us. She offered to treat me to dessert sometime soon, and a couple weeks later we were sitting across from each other at Cheesecake Factory, sharing a delicious slice of Reese’s chocolate peanut butter cheesecake when she told me her and her husband Ian’s story. They had been trying to get pregnant for years without success, and they’d never believed in their wildest dreams that adoption would be a feasible option for them from a financial standpoint. Did you know it cost $40,000 to adopt a child that otherwise wouldn’t have a home… or quite possibly a LIFE?! It wasn’t until Jendi & Ian witnessed a miracle that made adoption possible for them that they knew in their heart of hearts it was meant for them to adopt. They have an AMAZING story and I feel so, so honored to have been able to help them tell it through pictures and cinematography! Ohhh my heart was just soaring the entire day we got to spend together. Tears were shed and the result is just beautiful. God is being glorified through this couple and I can’t believe I was given the chance to be a part of their story in this way. And guess what?? Their story is still being told and written!! Jendi & Ian are about halfway there in raising the funds for their adoption and they wholeheartedly believe that God is going to provide the rest… no matter how big of an amount it is! I get tears in my eyes every time I watch this! I could not have dreamt of a better opportunity to try my hand at cinematography. I just loved the entire experience so much and it’s so crazy to think that it’s helping get their story across and bring their little girl home!!! Jendi & Ian, thank you so much for asking me to capture this special and exciting time in your life. I can’t wait to meet your daughter next month!! :)
