Shooting at the gorgeous Shadow Creek Weddings & Events this past weekend was just a dream! There was something about this day that just reminded me of my own wedding day last May!! Maybe it was the gorgeous barn reception with garlands running down farm tables… maybe it was the scenic Virginia countryside as the backdrop to the day, rolling green hills spotted with cows… maybe it was the super sweet couple that is right around my and Justin’s age who also love the Lord and have been awaiting their wedding day for a long time. Whatever it was, it made the day that much sweeter because there was that element that I can’t quite put my finger on, but oh was it beautiful to be a part of!
It was supposed to RAIN not just in the morning, but ALL day! As I drove up to Shadow Creek raindrops fell on my windshield and I thought we were going to have to go with a rain plan and shoot all of our portraits under the wide porch of the barn. Somehow as I was shooting bridal details, the clouds started to clear and a bit of blue sky began to peek through!! We got ready to head out for the First Look and commented how much Jesus must love these two with such a drastic change in the weather!! It was one GORGEOUS July day!!
There are several things you will notice about this wedding that I can’t help but make a note on. First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a groom get so emotional after seeing his bride for the first time. Charlie loves Danielle SO much. It is so apparent in the way he looked at her all day and kept trying to make her turn her smile into a laugh. There is something so sweet and easy-going about the love these two share and there was so, so much joy throughout the day. That tends to happen when you have a couple who love each other and the Lord so deeply!!
Secondly, the florals by J Morris Flowers were just breathtaking!! The colors were gorgeous and complimented the bridesmaids gowns and the feel of the day so well. That ceremony arbor alone was a jaw-dropper… and then everyone saw the hanging floral chandelier at the reception! Talk about show stopping wedding day flowers. What a dream!
Shadow Creek is now one of my all-time favorite Virginia barn venues… the landscape surrounding the ceremony site created quite the romantic backdrop for Charlie and Danielle’s vows. In rain or shine, it would have been stunning! That’s how you know you’ve found one gorgeous wedding venue!!
Thank you so much Danielle and Charlie for having me be a part of your wedding day, and thank you to the amazing team of vendors that made this day so swoon-worthy! What a dream! I’ll be thinking of this wedding day when envisioning a romantic summer wedding for years to come! Congratulations you two, and I hope you’re having the best time on your honeymoon in Jamaica!!
Thank you to this incredible team of vendors for making this day possible!
