Well, I knew this day was going to be wonderful when I met Ashley and Brett at their engagement session and got to know them a little bit! From the short amount of time we spent together, I saw how polite and kind these two are, and how much they care for each other. Their engagement session was just a GLIMPSE at that, however, because on their wedding day they were even sweeter! I was SO excited to celebrate with them and capture their Ronald Reagan Building wedding! Shooting a wedding day in Washington DC can go one of two ways. It can either be high-stress and face paced, or it can be laid-back and incredible. Because it was Brett and Ashley, everything was planned perfectly so that we had plenty of time to just ENJOY the day, soak up all the incredible DC backdrops, and spend some time with friends and family… all while getting amazing photos, too!
We started their wedding day at The Willard where Ashley and Brett got ready in their suites before meeting for their First Look downstairs. The design and aesthetics of this hotel are like something from a dream!! I loved shooting a few portraits in and around the hotel grounds! Not to mention, the light was beautiful and bright everywhere we looked! Then we walked the few blocks down to the Ronald Reagan Building where Ashley and Brett’s ceremony and reception took place! I knew I was going to be shooting portraits at Federal Triangle and I was SO EXCITED. The buildings here are so elegant and beautiful, and we found a gorgeous little pocket all to ourselves with stunning light and architecture to work with! It was truly like something from a dream! I’ve always wanted to shoot bride and groom portraits at Federal Triangle and I loved getting to do that with Brett & Ashley!
It was so important to these two to spend time with their guests and family members that came to celebrate with them. I love that about Brett and Ashley. They are truly so kind and thoughtful, and I couldn’t help but think about how happy they are going to be together in the years to come. I hope these photos I was able to take of their big day only reinforce that love and happiness and that they’ll serve as a reminder of all the joy they felt the day they said “I Do.” Brett and Ashley, I’m wishing you all the best and I can’t wait to follow along with your newlywed life!
